Very nice greeter, knowledgeable about the exhibit. Today's exhibit was from Australia. Beautiful exquisite work. Astounding. You can take pics of the displays, but as any art exhibit, do not touch. Browse at your leisure, there are many quilting books to look through.
Lots of museums feature an exhibit on a certain topic or artist. The Quilt Museum is like a single museum exhibit. (Yes you could also call it a gallery.) The collection changes. We saw the collection that displayed quilts made entirely by men. I'm not a quilter but I can still appreciate and admire the talent involved in these tapestries.
This small "museum" is actually more like a gallery, with only a couple dozen quilted objects on display at any one time. Most are changing exhibits of contemporary fiber art - with the current one focusing on quilts done by men from around the world. While the "museum" may have some broader appeal, it is probably more suitable for avid... 更多
Worth a visit even if the admission price is a bit high, but worthwhile if you are interested in the fabric arts. A neat gift store too!
We visited last week and were impressed with the quality of the quilts. However, it is just a display of one woman's quilts, not a museum about quilting. We were disappointed. Should be called a gallery.
A small museum, which I would characterize as a gallery. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. There was a surprising variety of styles of quilt top patterns displayed. Traditional blocks and piecing as well as some truely original artistic wall hangings.
We have always appreciated quilting art and this small museum right on Main Street was a gem. The woman behind the ticket counter was extremely friendly and informative. A very nice selection of quilts with extraordinary hand work. Even if you are not into this type of art form, the chance to see such well made and artistic quilts is... 更多
These are not quilts you buy at the store. These quilts required creativity, patience, practice, and skill. The designs are eye-boggling up close and pop out at you from a distance. Not all art is in the art museum -- you'll find it here. Courteous & knowledgeable docents guide you (or tour yourself). Also, Golden is a fun town.
One day, I would love to make a quilt...... The current display is a sample of eleven years of one quilter's work. "In the British Tradition-Quilts by Carolyn Konig" The best part was that she was there to show and talk about her work and what inspires her to make these masterpieces. The museum was one of my favorite stops... 更多
We took my mother-in-law, a quilter, to this venue. We were under impressed, unfortunately. There is a fee, and the quilts were pretty, just not that many or what we expected. For the entry fee price, eh, not so much
