The Rainbow Bridge in Fort Morgan is a great example of what could be done architecturally to make your road trips that much more enjoyable. This bridge was built as a part of a side road diversion off of the Lincoln Highway for a trip through Northeastern Colorado. This side road adventure was soon no longer supported by the automobile... 更多
I was born and raised in Fort Morgan, Colorado, and haven't been back in many years. So it was a nice surprise to see that they renovated Rainbow Bridge so you can actually take a walk on it over the Platte River.
The Rainbow Bridge was built as the bridge over the South Platte. A secondary, more utilitarian bridge was built just to the west of the Rainbow Bridge. Well worth the short drive from Denver to see this. To truly experience the grandeur of this bridge you have to walk across it and back, Sunset of sunrise are the best times. There is a nice park on one side of the park to enjoy as well. With the S. Platte running high this year it is even better.
Beautiful place to take a walk or just relax and enjoy the view. The history behind it just adds to it. If you drive across you don't get the same feeling as walking.
