This historical mining town is represented by over forty structures and hundreds of original artifacts. You truly get a sense of what life would have been like living in a mining town in the mid to late 1800s. The best part is that each structure is numbered and the tour guide brochure actually matches the numbering. It is very well... 更多
My wife and I were staying in Breckenridge and were traveling to Pikes Peak when we were passing by Fairplay and stopped at this museum. We had no idea what we stumbled upon! We saw the old buildings from the street outside but when we entered each building, we took a step back in time - over 100 years. The... 更多
We have visited the museum with our children for home school. We spend about 4 hours looking through the building and teaching them about the history of the area and of the USA.
I stopped off here on my way home from Breckenridge. I found it an interesting and fun trip back into time. I was impressed with all of their displays and with how clean all the windows and glass cases are. It was easy to see lots of old implements, tools, and things that people used on a daily basis. It's a museum but it is almost like visiting a ghost town. We enjoyed going in and out of the buildings and I was amazed at how trusting they are, allowing people to enter the rooms. It took us about 2 hours to walk around and see it all.
Visiting the town really lets you take a trip back to the 1880's. Even though the map of the town has numbers to follow, you can just wander around and see what each building has to offer. Teens may find this boring, but younger kids might like exploring.
The South Park City Museum is a great little "town" with old west buildings. We visited on Living History Days (2nd weekend in August) and had a great time. Watched a "train robbery," a cowboy "shootout," sampled a campfire made Elk Pie, watched doll making, and took a turn playing Faro (a gambling game) in the saloon. Great fun! The... 更多
On the advice of a local shop owner nearby we decided to check out the South Park City Museum and to be honest I wasn't expecting much more than a few old building setup as a ghost town. I was pleasantly surprised to find over 40 buildings (a handful still in their original state) with numerous and varied exhibits within.... 更多
