HIGH CLEARANCE 4-wheel drive !!! Your Subaru Outback won't cut it. HEARTY souls may choose to hike it, but this would be a SUBSTANTIAL day-long trek at nearly 9,000 ft above sea level. Even in a four-wheel drive, 14 miles in, then 14 miles out — each direction taking close to 2 hours of riding on a bucking bronco. It... 更多
We were a little anxious because of things we had read but we rode our Canam side by side and had no problem. It is a little rough and could get slick if wet but it was no problem for us.I wouldn't take a vehicle up there. It was beautiful and worth the trip.
I did this hike, starting in the afternoon knowing that I would get within a mile of the formations that day. I set up a simple tent and camped that night, and checked out the formations in the morning. They are as awesome as everyone else says, so there's no need to repeat the other reviews here. I hiked back... 更多
It is a long day hike ( appx. 17 miles) but very scenic and the formations were very interesting. We did not see any one else on the trail all day. No four wheelers either. Weather was not the best so that probably kept folks away.
Big rocks are rather moon like, sort of unbelievable. But I wont go there again. So very bumpy and bone jarring. One way in and one way out. Could walk faster, but cant because the 'road' is one small to medium bolder-rock after another. Sorry, I recommend this only for adults seeking unusual gigantic rocks who have sturdy back bones... 更多
What an amazing place! We rode ATVs the 14 miles from Hansen's Mill to Wheeler. It took about 2 hours (with several breaks for photos along the way). We had heard the road was difficult, but it wasn't bad. There were several places we had to cross shallow streams. Only one place had really deep ruts, but it was still... 更多
This is not a trip if you are in a hurry. Not a trip for you in anything less than a serious 4WD vehicle. Not talking your Suburban. I mean a real Jeep. It's a full day trip but oh so worth it! You will be amazed at what Mother Nature cooked up at Wheeler. I've never seen anything like... 更多
This do you have a logical formation is very very interesting and really worth the trip. However it's not for the week of legs or the week of feet. There is a road that takes you to the entrance to the formations but after that you must hike approximately 5 miles and elevations about 8800 feet . There are some... 更多
Beautiful scenery. Go early to avoid chance of mid to late day thunderstorms. The rock formations are breathtaking. Hike in or 4-wheel drive.
An outstanding area in a hard to reach place. The road in is definitely a four wheel drive in dry weather. A one day trip doesn't allow time for exploration, so try to camp in at the site.
