I have been there a few times, with my husband and my mother. There're a few steps down an easy but rocky trail, so short that you can see from where you park. Two small pools built with rocks, that cater to several people each. You need to adjust the water temperature by letting some river water in, sometimes it... 更多
I have lived the Penny Hot Springs for many years. It is a true taste of local life. Nestled in the mountains, next to the Crystal River, the views are breathtaking. This is right off the road and easy to get to, perfect for visitors of all ages, sizes and physical shape.
We had a great time at this hot spring. You have to climb down to the water, so not good for anyone who is not completely able bodied. Met some really interesting people. This spot is clothing optional, so keep that in mind if you are taking your kids.
We had a window of time to fill. This was a great place to do it. It's amazing how hot the water is. There are 3 pools of different temperature. Frequent dips in the cold stream are required to cool down. We were there late morning through lunch. Several other families were there enjoying the place as well.
We stopped off here on evening and boyyyy was it an adventure. Met lots of nice friendly people and a few hippies! The water was nice and hot and the area was clean.... but to our surprise CLOTHES WERE OPTIONAL haha!! We still had a great time!!
Has good and bad points. Free in river hot spring - not large you have to keep stirring the water around or you will be hot on one side and cold on other side. underwater during spring runoff. Crowd varies- often none, sometimes drunk guys -often hispanic, hippies, who knows. Avoid noisy Fri &Sat nights. There are better ones in... 更多
If you are in the area - make sure you stop by Penny Hotsprings for a quick soak. The place is good for everyone...when we were there, there was a large group of young people drinking but they were not loud or annoying. My two kids thought it was great - hot in spots and cold in others. Make sure... 更多
I had researched this little spot before our road trip, and kept a look out for it as we drove. There are lots of little turn off/ dirt look out areas along the road, but this one is popular and had a port-a-potty. You can park along the road and climb down a semi-steep set of rocks to the river... 更多
Our extended family stayed at the KOA campsite nearby (which was awesome), and we went down here for an afternoon because the campsite pool was being repaired. The hot springs is literally just a site on the side of the road (near mile marker 55), and you climb down some steep steps and you are right there. We went on... 更多
