Ruth Bancroft has created a huge succulent garden that is open to the public. Take a guided tour with a docent. Great place for adults and children. Oh, yes and Ruth is over 100 years old and lives in the big house on the property!
If you have an interest in succulents or cacti, you'll greatly enjoy the gardens. Recently visited on a Friday night that offered a BBQ Buffet, live music and the almost enjoyable stroll through the garden. The garden alone is worth a visit and on days when there are special events it enhances the experience.
Ruth Bancroft Garden is in Walnut Creek near Treat and Ignacio Valley Road. It's one of those rare huge corner lots that started as somebody's orchard or farm many, many years ago and is still undeveloped and owned by the family. This small succulent garden, located in Walnut Creek is very nicely maintained and the people (volunteers?) are friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my walk and also sat in the shade and enjoyed the serenity of the day. About an hour to walk the trail with time to stop and take photos or sit for a while in the shade.... 更多
