The lunch was very good (unless you really love grape juice, you can skip buying a bottle) and the temple and buddhas were interesting. Worth a stop if you have some time and like to learn about other cultures and religions.
Actually, this is a favorite restaurant anywhere! I don't know how they do it. No meat, no garlic, no onions, but the food is rich and yummy beyond compare. It is very healthy and earth-friendly and intriguing. While there, you can walk to the temple and see the 10,000 Buddhas. Truly! This is a special place the food is extraordinary.
My wife and I are not Buddhist and visited here on an exploratory trip. We were very privileged to attend a prayer session.A very beautiful young girl got us prayer books and showed us how to follow along. The sounds of the peacocks and prayers refreshed my soul.
I expected a bit more than what appeared to be a compound for families participating in the Buddhist religion. there is a boring history room and temple, but beyond that.....not much of interest. I thought I might speak some Thai, but found that all present were Chinese.
We are not Buddhists, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Much of it is open to the public, and you get a map when you register at the office. The temple has 10,000 Buddha statues, and there are other temple rooms with various statues, all deeply meaningful to the practitioners and beautiful to... 更多
We stopped here for a side trip on an "escape weekend" through Mendocino and were glad we did. Just as we neared the large, ornate entranceway, we got a phone call from a relative whose adult son had unexpectedly died. After a sad cellphone conversation in the administration building's parking area, we started walking around the grounds. Gorgeous peacocks were... 更多
Dying to see Peacocks with in full-trail spread? Looking for healthy vegetarian food in Ukiah? Want to have an east Asian respite? Head 3 miles east of Ukiah to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Since I am not used to Mahayana Buddhism, i figured the best was to ask someone from the temple about the teachings. So I asked a female helper if this Buddhism is similar to Indian or Sri Lankan.. Her reply was 'Sri Lankan Buddhism is lost Buddhism' clearly she was not aware of the teachings of Buddha...condemning another is clearly... 更多
A major beacon of light for living beings suffering in the temporary residence we think of as 'me'. The grounds and gardens are relaxing, the restaurant REALLY good and all vegetarian. There is a nice little museum and a unique gift store, as well as well-respected and economical elementary, secondary, and university education facilities. And everybody is very calm and... 更多
From the time you pull through the main entrance you can feel the serenity of the area. The buildings are simple but functional and the grounds are laid out in a definite order. Go to the building of 10,000 Buddha's and join in on a prayer session. You can sign up for a 3 day retreat to get full benefit... 更多
