We walked the "bike/walk/jog" trail from Tahoe City along the Truckee Rive to River Ranch. It's about 8+ miles round trip. You walk along the river in and out of shade from trees. Beautiful walk along the lake but too short. if you consider yourself an above average walker. Various historical information stops. More info if you start or end at the "Fanny" bridge. Nice place to sit and watch the people and or boats
Easy to get around and find things to do and places to eat. Tamarack Lodge is the Best place to stay! Tahoe House Bakery is best breakfast & lunch!
We visited in October. The weather was wonderful that day. My favorite part was the boardwalk down by the lake. There is some interesting information about the formation of the lake on a plaque along the boardwalk. We love the views and the romantic atmosphere in this city, we stayed in autumn and it was cold (0 degrees) our first meal was in Artemis cafe an we enjoyed the amazing view of the lake, the nice greeck style flavores and the arquitectural wood and stone concept. It is a magic place for Honey Moon.
There are road constructions going on, which makes the whole city look ugly. Also, because the construction, some of the street parking are not available, and that causes inconvenience to access the nearby stores.
