We entered the facility and were treated with great respect. They gave us an overview of the museum and informed us not to take photo's. My grand children and grand nice were with us and they were able to go through the displays with the rangers of the museum giving them a tour. The children were given a sheet of... 更多
Objects give a sense of the rich and deep culture and lives of California's first citizens. I would like to see a more cohesive examination of the different tribes; even more objects; more depth. The space is pretty constrained, however, and I'm just glad that this museum exists because there is a huge story to tell.
Excellent displays and examples, but a classroom load of kids makes it seem even smaller than it is. Suggestion: Arrive later in the day after they've returned to their schools and you'll have the museum pretty much to yourself. We especially liked the display about Ishi.
Wile limited in scope and size, the museum does its best to curate the artifacts it has. An abundance of woven baskets and nets are displayed. In many instances the creator is pictures with her work. THe feather baskets were truly amazing works of art. I was surprised at the number of ceremonial dress items that were on hand. It... 更多

Superior photographs and crafts are on exhibit, well labeled and described. Museum personnel are friendly and helpful, and the small shop is excellent. I found it a peaceful, meditative... 更多
My husband and I visited this museum in less than an hour, but we left with a greater understanding of California's native people. We especially enjoyed seeing the beautiful hand woven baskets, beads, and regalia. I liked reading about Ishi and seeing pictures of him. Though I lived in California from 1979 to 1983, I had only known about the... 更多
Though not a huge place, it is filled with authentic artifacts and excellent descriptions in every case. Exceptional basket displays, as well as beautiful ceremonial adornments. Also a great selection of books and wonderful staff. All things Indian have been explored.
This museum has done amazing things with a relatively small amount of space. Packed full of history and stories. I am really glad that we visited this museum.
