Went on a breezy day in March, but the beach is huge, scenic, and full of birdlife darting in and out of the water. Well worth the trip.
See california as it was 300 years ago; a simple lovely stretch of untouched beach. No services by beach, no tacky cafes, so bring food and water or better yet, wine, and plan on spending the day. if the wine is up, it can be very tough. Great birding on the estero side of the beach.
As beaches go, I found Limantour to be fairly boring. Just a long, flat stretch of beach. I prefer rock outcroppings, tall stacks and tidal pools. Just a personal preference.
It was lovely to stroll along the beach. I saw four sea lions in the water quite close to shore. It was peaceful and pretty--but it got even better at sunset. DP saw a green flash, but I was too bust taking photos!
Limantour beach is an amazing beach that is total relaxation. The walk from the parking lot is not far, but you are walking through sand so it is a workout. The beach was not crowded. Although it is whale watching season we did not see any whales, but the sea lions were swimming along the beach front. They were so... 更多
It is great to get outdoors and walk in nature along scenic pathways to arrive at a pristine beach without the crowds. The farther you walk the less crowded it is so I prefer these types of destinations. This is about 1 mile long on the Pacific Ocean with beautiful sandy beach.
We strolled this beach early one morning and it was littered with tiny sand dollars - what a treat! I even saved a crab's life by getting him off his back and back on the move. Just a perfect beach!
Gentle surf because this beach is on the south side of the Point Reyes peninsula, which is sheltered from the prevailing northwest winds. Goes for miles, so great for sunbathing on a warm day, beach picnicking, garden-variety beach combing, or an easy hike. Spectacular view on a clear or partly-cloudy day from the easy summit on the way to the... 更多
The drive to the beach from the Pt. Reyes Seashore Visitor Center is an easy, pretty, 7-mile drive - with forest on both sides. The road is good - much better than the road to the Lighthouse. We saw deer and California quail along the roadside. Access to the beach is easy, and it was not crowded. Families were picnicking,... 更多
