I have been boating on Lake Oroville for 40 years and we finally have water this year after three years of drought, just love seeing the lake full early in the season.
Four of us rented a boat and toured and fished the lake today. It was absolutely amazing! The day and lake were so beautiful and the staff all efficient and courteous. The fishing wasn't great but we caught and released several largemouth bass, so that was fun!
Get here early. Wear hiking boots not sneakers. Bring your camera. Dress in layers. Bring your lunch, GPS and camera. You can easily get lost if you don't have a guide like GPS because trails are not marked. Perfect place for family outing. Parking is free but limited. Enjoy the wildflowers spread vast in the horizon and the water falls.... 更多
I have a boat in a slip at Lake Oroville Marina. The lake is spectacular. Elevation varies through the year, but that just means the surrounding views are different all the time. With its 4 major tributaries, you can go to a different area each time you're on the lake. Good fishing for bass and planted salmon, boats to rent... 更多

Walking along the path of the dam brought to me the realization of the continuous drought that plagues California. Low water levels did not keep the true sportsman from venturing out. Walking the path of this area offered fresh air and... 更多
They are not maintaining the launch area. The lake is low so there needs to be gravel placed where the launch ends. If someone gets stuck then no one can get their boats in or out. Plus there is no facilities there. There should at least be a portable bathroom at least for the disabled people that visit.
You've heard about the California Drought. Here at the Lake Oroville State recreation Area in July of 2015, you could view it. Once the largest earth-filled dam in the world, the Oroville Dam towers over the once huge body of water. The many houseboats that inhabit the reservoir are lined up like infantry in the deepest part of it. Still,... 更多
Lake Oroville and its surrounding facilities are fantastic, and Loafer Creek is a very nice campground. Unfortunately, the facilities aren't nearly as nice when the water is low because everything revolves around the lake. If you are planning a trip, be sure to check the lake level in advance because it's not as much fun in a drought year. Also,... 更多
