This place is owned and operated by the California Native Americans. This river is considered HOLY. The Native Americans have lived here for centuries. It is considered a holy place and again, finally, FISH are making their way back up the river.
It is always exciting to see the changing colors in the fall. The rafting and kayaking opportunities in the spring and summer are exciting as well! Fishing, hiking, and camping are just some of the other fun activities you can find along the Klamath.
It was a typical hot day and as we drove along the Klamath River, the kids wanted to go swimming. The scenery was beautiful and the water was cold, but a delight for the kids to swim in.
We rented a lodge along the river for a few nights and had a wonderful experince. You can see so much wildlife through here. The salmon were spawning, otters swimming, Condors and Eagles flying, Elk along the roads, deer along the roads..... just keep looking! It Would go back to be off the grid!
We went to the Klamath River Overlook to view the mouth of the river at the Pacific ocean. It was breathtaking. Everyone was hanging out at the parking lot but my husband and I ventured down the small overgrown path to the small lookout below. Stopped to have a picnic lunch along side the river. I love Oregon's rivers and streams because they are so clear, especially compared to many rives in the eastern part of the United States. I would actually be willing to eat a fish caught in Oregon waters.
We had a blast with Momentum River Expeditions on a 1 day, 17 mile white water rafting adventure. The river is beautiful with fields, woods and wildlife all around. Very serene place,far away from the hustle-bustle of the city . Tranquil & soothing atmosphere.If you stay overnight,your Joy can be triple the time spent.
We took the jet boat tour up river. It was lots of fun, entertaining and the captain had lots of local history and information. We saw lots of wildlife and accessed an area we would not have seen otherwise.
