Camping with a family, multigenerational and multi-interest? This is your spot. Hikes for everyone; fishing; mountain biking; swimming; dog-friendly; quiet; beautiful. Just go.
Lots of swimmable lakes in this area. We tried Salmon, Long and Gold Lakes on this trip. Salmon was the boys' favorite and the had the warmest water. I liked Gold Lake since we had more privacy there and the dogs didn't have to be watched every minute to keep them out of other people's picnics.
We have lived near the Lakes Basin and have been exploring in the area for 35 years. This area is like our back yard. Not sure if I even want to post because one of the best things about this glorious place is that it is uncrowded. Simply wonderful hikes to lakes, streams, mountain tops and meadows. Long hikes, short strolls.... they are all fantastic.

The Lakes Basin Recreation Area and the Plumas State Park are off the beaten path of the Tahoe scene and every bit worthy of a destination trip. There are VERY accessible lakes, short to long hikes, hundred+ miles of trails, access to the PCT etc. and a very laid back vibe in the nearby towns of Blairsden, Graeagle, etc. Yes... 更多
