This is the gateway way park to the redwoods. The old grow redwoods and the cabins of the park is close to the highway beautiful though can be noisy. Camping among giant redwoods is amazing, the eel river is just a short walk. The rangers were very friendly and helpful. Bring lots of mosquito replant and or candles.
Wow! Camped right in the midst of a Giant Sequoia grove. Not just near it; in it. We had a giant sequoia (over 10 feet wide) right in our campsite!! We stayed in a cabin at Richardson Grove state Park before the Avenue of the giants marathon. The state Park was about half an hour South from the race, so convenient for our purposes.
