No matter what you think you know about the kelso dunes, prepare to be wowed. No pictures will do this justice and no review can quite explain it. I've heard it's a 1.5 mile hike from your car to the top of the dunes. Somehow this doesn't feel accurate. But the intensity of the desert heat and the nature of... 更多
Avoid a trip here it is a very hot day . You need to be able to walk around to appreciate the area. Ensure you come with a good supply of water if you intend to hike
Finally our son got to see sand dunes. This was what he missed while we were crossing the Mojave desert. A desert has to have sand dunes! This is a real neat stop for the family. We took our 7 and 9 year old here on our way through the Majove Desert. Beautiful hike to the top of the dunes. It took us about 45 minutes. Be sure to leave yourself at least 30 minutes to sit at the top and enjoy the view. We sat on... 更多

Amazingly, there are people who visit this place--because it's unique and fun --if you go in the spring, you'll have the added benefit of seeing some neat wildflowers. The dunes are fun... 更多
If you are visiting Mojave National Preserve, a stop by the dunes is well worth your while. The last three miles to the parking lot is a gravel road, but is in good enough condition for any car. The first thing that I found striking is the size of these dunes: for all practical purposes, you are hiking a mountain... 更多
Kelso Dunes is a unique formation of sand dunes in the middle of the Mojave. Not exactly the ideal place to visit in August, but you take the opportunities when they come. The dunes are impressive, rising up from the valley like a mountain range. You can climb to the highest peak (if you are so inclined and hydrated) and... 更多
