as public beaches go, this one is great--very long and spacious, where you can catch some sun, have a long stroll or run, and do some great surf fishing year round. it's within walking distance of some worthy eateries and other attractions as well. the beach is often windy, but often quiet, too.
We actually parked just outside the park and walked along the path. There is nothing remarkable about this strip of beach. A short walk will take you to an overlook of some harbor seals (you smell them before you see them).

The beach is not crowded and hence a family can enjoy few hours here and also have a choice of a number of Restaurants close by to enjoy food and drinks. We took a walk to this beach after dinner around sunset and it was literally picture perfect. There weren't many people there at the time and the people that were there weren't loud so it was very romantic. We timed our visit for low tide when the beach walking is best. We had a good one hour walk and it is a clean beautiful beach. It is a little busier than Summerland but still not crowded.
