This is a main tourist beach in the Santa Cruz area, and one of the best. It can be a little crowded sometimes, but it's a nice beach for having lots of facilities close by and it's more protected than many other beaches.
Capitola is a very small and quaint little beach town. The beach is very nice, relaxing and beautiful. There are several nice little restaurants that overlook the ocean and have good food. Heavy fog and beach was a mess from a recent storm with seaweed ashore and sand dunes and valleys on the beach. Different from the sunny beach we were used to. Should be better when cleaned up.
Capitola beach is really a sweet little beach. I live close by, so I am very fortunate to be able to walk down anytime and enjoy sitting on the benches along the Esplanade, to enjoy the view. Since we had a storm coming in, they were preparing for high tide and blocked the entrance to the sand so the parking lot didn't flood. Large berms were created with sand to prevent erosion. People were still on the sand and many on the sidewalks. Parking must be paid with meter, watch for painted curbs and don't get caught... 更多
