A wonderfully preserved location with no traffic makes for a very relaxing visit. The church is well kept and has many artefacts of interest
Wonderful place to visit and feeling like walking back in time. The architecture is beautiful, great place for photography lovers with opportunities in every corner.
Santillana is a very beautiful little town and the streets around the old town are full of historic buildings and touristy shops. The Plaza Mayor is part of the town but is not something which stands out from the rest of the town. Certainly worth wandering through the whole place
Great area to walk around and see all of the incredible historic architecture. The cathedral is beautiful and best to go for mass and to light a candle.
What a discovery! Every stone in this town is steeped in history. The buildings and streets are beautiful, the museums enlightening and there's a surprise round every corner.
This place is so beautiful and calm. We visited in December with few tourists. Old pavements, quiet streets, few cars. It is the perfect place to be on a shiny day. Wandering in the narrow streets and getting a surreal feeling of going back to medieval ages. A must see if you visit the region.
Tour bus after tour bus pull through here daily. It's charming - somewhat, but the shops are right out of a Renaissance festival. Once the tourists leave, and the shops close, it's actually pretty nice. Nice restaurants open up with very good good. Important: most of this city closes in October for the winter!
There are some cafes and restaurants, and a little but free exhibition about rural life in the area. It's a small plaza with a romantic medieval atmosphere. It was quiet when we got there so it was a nice relief from the big crowds on the main street.
Visiting friends in the region whilst holidaying in Europe and they took me to Santillana Del Mar... lots of little shops and cafes... my friends say there are lots of new shops and cafes each time they visit... was a wonderful to spend half a day exploring Spanish cultur
