Just getting to the trailhead could be daunting. We traveled in an F250 and found the four wheel drive helpful, but not entirely necessary going up the dirt/gravel road as it wound up the ridge. The added traction was nice as the gravel is loose and gives way easily as you negotiate the steep road. The 6 mile drive certainly... 更多
Husband & I took this approx.3 mile round trip trek through beautiful wooded, rocky terrain. Only met four others on trail, so we almost had the place to ourselves. The 6 mile dirt road is hard to spot from the road, but persevere. The views are absolutely worth it. Take water, camera, maybe a snack. A 'must see'.
Wonderful hike with stunning views. Difficult in some spots but worth it. There are plenty of boulders to rest on the way up. Too dangerous for small children due to the narrow trail and strenuous hike. Take plenty of water.
This trail is mostly down hill, then back up. Uneven terrain, so wear proper shoes. My husband and I are 59 and 63, and from flat land out of state. We are in good health and were able to complete the hike. Bring water, wear supportive shoes, and rest as you need to. Mostly down hill then back up. Awesome... 更多
WOW!!!! If you are willing to do a six-mile dirt and rock road climb (car), you will be amply rewarded with a moderate-plus hike to vistas beyond belief!! Multiple Ozark hiking books are available but the ones that tells you that this is an in-and-out (retrace your steps) trail are most correct and reliable!! The payoff is truly amazing!! Geologic... 更多
This is the most beautiful, surreal view I've ever experienced. The 3 mile round trip hike is so worth the view. We went first thing in the morning at sunrise. This time of day sees less visitors, cooler temps, and a beautiful view of the sunrise. We took this hike with a 5 year old and he handled it pretty... 更多
Hawksbill Crag or Whittaker Point as it is also known , is one of our family favorites (being a native of this area). It can be very crowded these days , due to the increased publicity our scenic areas have received , but visiting through the week is still very wonderful! It is quite a long drive over a dirt... 更多
This is not an easy hike for over 50 year olds, even ones in fair shape. We made it there and back, but did have to stop several times to rest, especially on the way back, several uphill sections are quite steep. Bring plenty of water. It took us about 2 1/2 hours round trip. But oh the the view... 更多
No food, drinks, changing rooms available nearby. Physically intensive, not very hard. Watch out for the weather. Whitaker's point is great place to take pics. Need to go through a 4 mile dirt road to reach the Trail Head. Starting point has a Rock with inscriptions on it, which can be easy to miss.
