The Olive Tree is good but the Family run Taverna next to it is even better. It is run by a family and is all Cretan 'home cooking'. The food is superb and is unbelievably cheap. If you visit this area and eat in only one restaurant it's got to be this one!
A nice old olive tree that certainly can be interesting for those among us who have not grown up surrounded by olive trees! We went there on our way back from Anoskeli and the quick stop fitted perfected with the itinerary. Oil, olive oil products etc. for purchase!
When you think that this tree started life before the Romans came to Crete, it gives some perspective to its age. Kids can crawl inside the twisted roots for a neat photo. A cool mountain location on a hot summer's day.
Spent a very relaxing 90 minutes here looking at the tree and the museum. Had some excellent cake in the Cafe and bought some very good olive oil as well as some soap. The people who run this place are very friendly and made us feel welcome. A beautiful part of the world.
You can visit the tree - in fact there are two very ancient trees. Next door is a friendly taverna where you can get coffee, drinks, snacks or a meal. They also sell a range of olive based beauty treatments I can recommend the shampoo.
There are a few single storey buildings that make up the museum, plus a shop were you can buy different products nade from the olives. The is also a spaciouse, shaded veranda were you can sit and have coffee and home made cake :) Well worth a visit.
The place is worth a visit. Though not big, it gives a nice overview about greek products. All the olive products taste great - you should give them a try! In the back of the house, you can taste everything. There is no pressure to buy - though we loved to spend our Euros for the delicious products. :) You... 更多
This tree is over 3000 years old! WOW! The museum is far from other attractions, but definitely worth seeing. You'll get an insight on the history of olive industry without being tired of too much information, as the museum is quite small.
Impressive old tree. Don't forget to visit the little museum next to the old tree and be sure that you arrive either at lunch time or dinner time, so you can grab a bite at the tavern on the side. They serve amazing food, with a smile.
