We found this place by chance, but was one of the most amazing things that happened to us, the museums is beautiful and has a lot of information about Budism and Hinduism, so was a learning opportunity.
It was a very comprehensive exposure to Hinduism and Buddhism. So tourists need not go farther in terms of researching. They just need to spend under an hour to go through the whole exhibits. The fact that the displays are housed in one of the courtyards (used to be part of the King's palace), with the architecture intact, is quite... 更多
a place with a great historical significance. Also known as Lalitpur, these were the courts / the royal complex in Nepal. The area has a lot of anciant temples, court rooms, monestries, etc. The most prominant is the Living Goddess Patan Kumari's temple. this is definitely one of the best museums we have visited in our 7 months in India and Nepal. superb renovation work, excellent explanations in English, and an extensive collection of exhibits. dont miss it.
Currently there is an exhibition which one could spend the entire day studying. The artefacts are well chosen and the descriptive accounts immediately adjacent to them are succinct and comprehensive, a model of how to mount an exhibition.
This museum provides a great explanation of Hindu and Buddhist religious development. It's great for people like me who are new to understanding these religions. The views from the museum over Patan Durbar Square are also great.
