Designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo, this beautiful bank houses the nation's largest bank. We stopped in to try to open a bank account for our daughter. Given the current economic crisis, this was not possible. Worth a quick peek inside to view the ironic contrast in opulence verses a weak economy. Victoria, the banker that we spoke to, was delightful.

Constructed in the 1940’s, this huge edifice was once the Central Bank. The huge 164’ diameter dome is the third largest in the world and provides a grand open space with marble floors and ornate wood work. Today, the building is the headquarters to the country’s largest bank. This is not your typical branch bank building.
Situated on the Plaza de Mayo, opposite the Casa Rosada you simply cannot miss this massive building. Very nice in classical style. The impressive Bank of Argentina edifice was previously the theater Colon, before they built the new one on Av.9 July.
