I visit every time I come to B.A.! Even if you can't/don't read Spanish it's worth a stop. There's a cafe to sit and enjoy the beauty and there are some book selections in English as well (I love the cooking section!).
Staff has a terrible attitude towards customers. They gather together to talk and laugh and when one approaches them to ask for help they don't even say hi; actually one of them, in the DVD section, walked out in the middle of my question. Pathetic. The security policy is ridiculous, to the point that they stop you at the door... 更多
The most beautiful bookstore that I ever seen. The place was a famous cinema and theater – Grand Splendid-. It keeps the balconies and stage, adapted as reading rooms and coffee shop. Awesome atmosphere, very nice coffee shop inside… Excellent option for time investing during your trip to Buenos Aires. I strongly recommend this place
This place is realy beautiful, a real must, this is an incredible shop and a place to look around between thousands of book, in a relax place... Here you can read your book in some lazy corners, without buying it,... this is fantastic, this is Argentina....
This is the most beautiful book store i have ever seen. Its a great spot to hide away in for a few hours and have a coffee. At the back of the store there is a little coffee shop/lunch place, they have gone to great detail to keep the authenticity of the place Its a must visit
This was a beautiful bookstore located in an old theatre. We enjoyed looking around. Prices are frequently not displayed on books. I went to buy a book and it was quite expensive. It is a nice place to stop by if you are in the neighborhood, but not a must-see.
Such a magnificent place, the old "El Ateneo" transformed into a book shop, remarkable and great place. I always visit it when Im back in Buenos Aires. I recommend it to find any book in spanish you like
This bookshop was formerly a theatre/cinema and the architectonic details have been respected and refurbished. It is a magical place book lovers should try to visit while staying in Buenos Aires.
The Ateneo used to be a theatre and it was converted into a library. The place is absolutely beautiful with welcoming lighting and well arranged book shelves for every imaginable genre. There's even a sub-level dedicated to children's books and movies. You can also have a little coffee on what used to be the center's stage. Make sure you allocate... 更多
Such a pity, such a wonderful place, a temple of books and wisdom, and a dreadful service. I got the impression everyone that works there (at the café as well) is just sad and fed up with customers, especially those who go there for the books and not only the building. Never seen such a lack of politeness as a... 更多
An ingenious idea!!! We were blown away by the beauty of the theatre and the usefulness of the library. I live in Chile and it is tough to find a good bookstore. There is a huge selection of books and a great view for those who just want to browse. I felt like I should have paid to see this... 更多
Once you step inside you will see why it is rated as one of the coolest bookstores in the world. The owners did well to keep the features of a theatre as they converted it to a bookstore. It is so beautiful and there are all different types of books as well as reading rooms. Don't forget to stop at... 更多
Have you ever been on a gala night to one of those theaters with balconies full with people? The Ateneo Splendid on Santa Fe is just this, but full with books! The atmosphere is great. Many books mainly in spanish, name the subject, DVDs. Borge's short stories weren't available , only on complete works which was not the point. The... 更多
