This is one of the most beautiful synagogues in Cape Town. I got married here some 40 odd years ago. It is an orthodox synagogue which means that the men sit downstairs and the women sit upstairs. Really large and very open and a wonderful feeling to be there
You need to show a picture ID to enter this complex which also contains the Jewish Museum as well as the Holocaust Museum. We were able to enter the shul and given a brief tour and information about the building and congregation.
Beautiful. Attended wedding there. My husband grew up as a congregant and bar mitzvah boy in this synagogue. There is also a lovely very informative Jewish Museum and cafe behind the Synagogue.
What a beautiful place to visit, a true oasis in the crazy world of ours. Everytime I go visit, it fills me with so much peace and tranquility a must see when visiting Cape Town, try it and you will see why I highly recommend this attraction. It recharges your batteries. Kind regards Ferdie Liebenberg
We were lucky to have someone to take us around and tell us about the history of the building. Lovely architecture and well maintained. Don't miss the Holocaust Centre which is part of the same complex.
