Not so great if it's very hot, although the sheltered areas are great, especially when the wind blows. We enjoyed the bird hides and watching the bird life. Facilities are good and clean. It would be very educational if the time is taken to do the boat ride and to read everything.
As an alternative to the beach Intaka Island is a great destination with children. On arrival there are two old steam trains to climb all over then in the actual conservation area there is a short walk as well as a longer one with lots of educational opportunities. The short walk is perfect for children under 5. Each child can... 更多
For many times, i have driven past Century City, promising myself that one day i will go to Intaka Island. Well Sunday past was that day, i took my kids and better half and grandchild to enjoy the boat ride @ Intaka Island, needless to say, my expectation of the trip (due to water restrictions) was not very exciting, irrespective... 更多
This was a wonderful surprise. I walked from Canal Walk Shopping centre. Entrance fee is cheap. Birdlife prolific. Restrooms were clean. Opening hours for summer from 7.30 am to 7 pm. A must visit for all engines. Includes history of the steam train which was unusual
The park is simple and the hiking is just a short walk, but it was a great opportunity to know this small oasis of nature in the heart of Century City. The full moon hiking costs just R 40 pp for a reception drink and a guided walk (one and a half hour) throught the park.
I did not know this place existed till I saw a groupon offer for a family of 4 boat cruise around the canals at Century city. What a special treat it was to be a tourist in our own "back yard ". The cruise was sp special and the guide was very knowledgeable and willing to share information- we even... 更多
I stayed in the area for a number of years before visiting Intaka as it is quite tucked away. It's located in Century City, a new town in Cape Town next to the city's largest shopping mall, Canal Walk. Predominantly wetland, Intaka Island attracts a wide range of birds and it can be fun watching them push branches around the... 更多
What a lovely place to relax, I never knew it even existed until we were invited by friends. It is a unique opportunity to see the great conservation and preservation work being done in urbanized environments. If you have kids it is a worthwhile place to visit from an educational point. And for those who need some retail therapy, Canal... 更多
If you would like to get a 'birds - eye' view of Intaka, take a SUP board around the canals and experience it from a completely different viewing. Watch birds among the reeds and feel totally relaxed as your ponder from one side of the island to the next, and getting around much faster than the boat rides offered.
Century City isn't ever going to win beauty awards, but this spot is a little gem, particularly if you are a birder. Offers peace and quiet in an area with little character.
