If you have any respect for or love of animals - don't go! I am surprised Mitchell Park hasn't been shut down by Animal Welfare. Have just been to visit with my brother and sister-in-law and was nearly in tears. The animals are mostly in terrible condition as are the pens they are living in! Dirty enclosures, filthy water, rusting... 更多
I took my niece here - she loved looking at the animals. Some of the giant tortoises were probably the same ones I used to be in awe over when I was a child. Hasn't lost its appeal.
It good for the children, they enjoy seeing live all the animals that they never thought they will see and to know what kinds of animals and how the animals surviving and live
Mitchell Park has always been a favourite with families for some outdoor fun with a lovely park area where you can picnic and a small zoo area with a variety of animals, kids love walking around and experiencing the flora and fauna. And the best part about Mitchell Park is Blue Zoo. An old classic restaurant in Durban, not fancy... 更多
There was a lot of construction going on in the zoo, but we weren't told about this before going in. Lots of areas were roped off. Quite a lot of the cages were empty, and others had no information about the animals inside or had the wrong information. No maps to show you where anything is. A bit disappointing all... 更多
We were surprised by the super cheap entrance ticket (for a family of 3 it was under R50!) however we did see dead birds in one of the cages, and not very many staff walking around (there were kids throwing balls onto the cages and scaring the animals, kids picking up the baby ducks and chasing away mom/dad) - I... 更多
Great place to visit. We visited with a 4 year old who loved seeing the various small animals, birds etc. The gardens are lovely and very peaceful, only unfortunate thing were the few bits of litter we saw and the ponds were a bit murky. There is a small cost, R10/adult, R7/child to see the animals, birds etc and well... 更多
Mitchell park is very popular with the locals including myself. I go often and take the grandchild as well. Lovely location to set up a picnic and let the children have a ball. Plenty of birds and other animals to see. Very relaxed atmosphere and very cheap entrance fee. Lovely restaurant in the park and the food is delish.
Met friends at the park on a Sunday afternoon. Decent enough place to spend half a day, with a picnic of braai. Certain areas of the park though could be better maintained (grass length) There is a play area for kids, as well as a small zoo. Also places for functions. We had to keep away from some stray monkeys... 更多
We took a day out to the beautiful gardens and little animal farm they have. We enjoyed the outing as well as the cold beer and carrot cake. It is a beautiful garden with all colours of flowers.
