We walked from Ushaka sea world to Durban pier and how wonderful it was. Beautiful views, lovely clean promenade with the toilets very clean security guards all over the place as well as the nice restaurants and bars. As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say " I will be back ".
I went strolling down the Golden Mile / Marine Parade ~ AnD what a change! So many memories buried in the sand and waters! Lovely and very touristy as main beach attraction to the tourist coming to Durban. Many things changed and replaced, or just gone! Swimming pool getting an overhaul - great, can only improve! This long promenade is spectacular . It is wide, safe and easy to walk or cycle on. There are many restaurants and fast food outlets. My wife and I walk there regularly during the day with enjoyment and never any problems. Next to safe swimming beaches with lifeguards. Worth a visit.
Easy place to take a walk - some folks even had dogs on leads - nice area, we used in the morning, so can only vouch for that tiem of day.

When you are in Durban, your trip is not complete without visiting the Golden Mile. To go from the northern side to the south requires that you hire a bicycle, but if you fit enough you can walk. This is a good place for swimming and surfing. This place is safe , with police visible.
