Interesting story behind this gas station. Built, in the mid 1920's on Route 66, in the mid '60's it burned to the ground. It was rebuilt in 2001 by the new owner. These are just the highlights. It is not necessary, but might be interesting to read more online before visiting. The woman we met who runs the "station" was... 更多
Short stop on Route 66 tour Historically interesting remnants of the old days My friend was fascinated by the rock samples on display Absolutely fabulous views across the desert "interesting" toilet facilities Great photo opportunity
We went to the store, looked at the exhibits, and took some photos. This is a classic place to take a photo of a historic Route 66 gas station. The views of the desert are beautiful so great place for that too. Cool Springs Station is on Sitgreaves Pass just after you pass the summit on your way from Oatman... 更多
Station itself was not open on the day we passed by this spring, but was still very picture worthy. The classic Route 66 painted on the roadway was a great photo op, fortunately low traffic, so sitting with it did not get me killed! Just up the road from this spot is a tiny, man-made rock pool on the hillside... 更多
More of an eye candy exhibit for motorists than a stop. This is not a functioning business but is a gift for us to oogle as we drive The Old Road.
If you are traveling Route 66 in Arizona this is a must stop. It was closed while we were there but you don't have to go inside to appreciate this gem. There's a rock and mineral sale on the side (on your honor) and a great photo stop. Would have loved to have gone inside!
We traveled through Oatman to Cool Springs Station-8 miles and a suggested time of 22 minutes which tells you a lot right there. Oatman is at 2719 elevation and to get to Cool Springs Station, you travel through Sitgreaves Pass, the highest elevation on Rt 66 at 3550. I would suggest that it's not for the faint of heart as... 更多
Heading to Oatman this place is a must stop! Set on the roadside of the most scenic part of route 66 this place is full of history. The resident store keep is well versed in local history and is pleasant to talk to. There are hiking opportunities for the adventurous but be sure to have plenty of water since this... 更多
