One cannot live a full life without visiting this place...the history of SA - from the Mandela's family history to the Tutu's family home, the amazing market, art, music & the friendly community of Orlando west...no wonder people from around the world flock in numbers to this destination...!
Excellent place to visit if you want a balance between history and fun stuff to do. There are loads of trendy restaurants and bars along this street but then also the obvious attractions of Nelson Mandela's old house and Desmond Tutu's house. There are loads of little stalls selling touristy things. We didn't find any of the vendors overbearing, so... 更多
What a terrific street. Nelson Mandela's house on one end, Desmond Tutu on another! Everything is alive and busy and colorful to the passerby. A street that is a living monument to it's own history. Need to visit when in Soweto.
This is the heart of Soweto. mandela Home is located on this street. There are several business and resturants as well. You have street vendors.
The street, home to the greatest African is humbling. Going around the street is more than reliving the path of the great men. Hard to believe to nobel prize winners Mandela and Tutu residing in the same street. Amazing.
You can't visit Soweto without going by Vilakazi Street, the highlight of which is Nelson Mandela's house, at 8115 Vilakazi Street in Orlando West in Soweto. The house and property are not very big, but the main thing you get out of the visit is a history lesson about Mandela's life and his fight against Apartheid, and a chance to... 更多
There is an unexplainable atmosphere of completeness, fulfilment and excitement that punctuates, arguably, Soweto's most famous and busiest street. From the Hector Piertesen Measum, The Tutu House, The Mandela House, the restaurants and wares on sell along the street, the people of different races..you need no further persuasion that you are not in an ordinary street. It's the home to... 更多
What a great experience this is, we were on an organised tour and stopped to have a look at this bustling little street. Was the street that Nelson Mandela lived in before he was imprisoned and for a short time after as well. His home is just another tourist attraction, which we didn't visit but just drove past. The street... 更多
We were looking for gifts to send overseas. The variety of wares was good and the prices better than encountered elsewhere. Service excellent. Delightful sales patter.
This place is a major attraction of Soweto tour as there is one preserved house of Nelson Mandela in this street which is a public museum with an entry fees. The house is well preserved with the bed and furniture he used when he was living for a while in this house before moving to other side of Johannesburg. The... 更多
