You will have to buy a ticket down at the Visitors Center near the Constitutional Court. This will allow you to go to the inside of the Johannesburg Fort as well as the Men's Prison and the Women's Prison. In the fort look out for a Mandela Exhibition called "the Sands of Time" - it is very interesting with diaries... 更多
There is not much left of the original fort, but the main entrance and other areas have been restored. It was converted into a prison and Nelson Mandela spent time here in a disgusting cell. Also you can see the isolation cells which will make you weep. You can visit the fort, the woman's prison next door and the whole... 更多
Our South African friend brought us here on the day of our arrival to Joburg and it was- I have to say -the best introduction to the local and SA national history. The Johannesburg Fort is part of the complex called Constitution Hill. The structure is one of the oldest in Johannesburg. It was build in 1893 by Paul Kruger... 更多
If you are visiting the Constitution Hill, yu have to see also the Fort. The Fort was built in 1893, iand it s one of the oldest buildings in Joburg. It was used as a fortress by Paul Kruger during the Anglo Boer War.I recommend the visit if you are close to this "full of history area" of Joburg.

Going to Constitution Hill is an incredible experience for anyone wanting to learn more about our country's history. The Hill Cafe at the Fort is excellent for a drink/lunch, too.
I have already reviewed this place as part of our visit to constitutional hill. But I will reiterate this is one of the must dos in any visitor to the region. Very moving, very heartwrenching and extremely important in the where South Africa is today!
Not to be missed. Every South African should visit The Fort to fill in the gaps in our history. You will be moved by the recorded experiences of the inmates, which included Nelson Mandela. The cells, search yard, whipping post, exercise, and all areas are all clearly marked and explained, but your experience will be enhanced by taking the services... 更多
