constitutional hill is a best place to visit to learn more about history of this country.we saw Nelson Mandela room when he was in the prison and we learn that Nelson Mandela was there for seven years before they move him to Robbin island.
Compared to the other options available for the traveller, constitution hill might take a back seat. This is part of the red bus tour and hence can be visited if you have time at your hand
If you come to Joburg and you'd like to know something about where SA has come from and where its going you've got to see Constitution Hill. Depressing, moving, and uplifting. There is an interesting tour of the former prison. Differences between women'sand men's sections and facilities for different races make the details of apartheid clear. The Constitutional Court is very important, with an informative guide.
Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. First he takes you through the prison buildings, and it is very interesting (and sad) to see and hear what prisoners went through. Second you get to see the court, which looks more like an art gallery than a court - so much symbolism and artwork.
One of the top spot to not miss in Johannesbourg. Get inside and enjoy the architecture of the amazing space. It's were many good decisions have been taken. Pay the ticket and visit all the space. It deserve it. Mandela was in prison here.
always gets me all teary eyed. i love the constitutional court because it reminds me of our herttage, our history and that we are bigger than the figurehead who runs the show... well worth it.
Spent the better part of a day at this amazing building which was once a prison. Just to see the conditions under which these prisoners lived and the daily humiliations they endured was heartbreaking. The building is in a rather dodgy area of town so you must either have a vehicle or ensure that you have a taxi waiting.
We had a really interesting tour around the prison and the Constitution building. Well worth a visit and make sure to get the free guided tour otherwise much of the interest and meaning would be lost.
