I am a woman motorcycle enthusiast and began riding motorcycles in my late 40s. This pass built my confidence and skill tenfold. The road from Morenci to Alpine is nothing less than spectacular. I have ridden it in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Early on in my motorcycle riding, I 'made my motorcycle bones' on the switchbacks and hairpin curves. I... 更多
We have ridden this many times with a group and solo. We just did it this past weekend with some friends. If you take the ride from Clifton up to Alpine it's in my opinion easier to ride. Either way us good, but up hill us our choice. We usually do it at least 3 times a year. We take... 更多
We did this road from N to S, on a cool, potentially rainy day. The rain held off, and the sun came out, and we had just a fantastic ride. I had a bit of trepidation about doing it, as I'd read several reviews of it, but it was not scary, just a very fun road on the bikes. There... 更多
Left Alpine and drove to Hanahan Meadow in just under an hour. Drove from there to Morenci in about 2 hours. No hurry on the trip. Lots of cruves. I drove in 2nd so that I didn't need to use the brakes a lot. Watch for wildlife. We saw 50+ elk, 11 deer, 20 bighorn sheep and a cow. In... 更多
What a beautiful drive this is. I should say I've ridden it on a bicycle several times as part of organized rides, but have driven it a few times also. The scenery is excellent, starting with the huge open pit copper mine as you head north from Morenci. And I mean Huge. You go as high as 9,200 Ft on... 更多
The mine at Morenci Az is a sight to behold take the time to see it take Hwy 191 north through Morenci and through the mine between the smelter and the mine. Continue through tunnel up the hill and to the overlook stop and be awed you will not see anything to compare. Then if you really want a change... 更多
If you take this drive, be very careful to not let the amazing scenery take your attention from the road at the wrong time. There are switch-backs where you can almost see your own tail lights. The 15 mph speed limits are very necessary.
Rt 191 along the eastern border of Arizona lives up to its old name of the Devil's Highway -- it long ago was Rt.666. Today this road through the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest is better known as the Coronado Trail. The road itself is amazing because it cuts through mountains and has numerous (more than plenty) of switchbacks. Don't expect to... 更多
