Our B&B host was going hiking here and offered to drive us out - she and a friend are very familiar with the park and gave us great information. We spent several hours hiking and sightseeing - great views and lots of history from WW II. Well worth a few hours if the weather is okay.
This historical location is beautiful and gives insights to the U.S. concerns over the possible Japanese invasion of the U.S. in World War II. It is worth the short trip and time to walk the area. This is a part of U.S. history that gets little attention.
Ft Abercrombie is beautiful. A great place to do a lot of hiking but easy enough to just walk around and enjoy the stunning scenery. This is a great place to take the kids tide pooling or discover old military bunkers hidden along the ridge. It's a great place for every age.
Great place to see whales. The moss on the trees is really cool. Was a really great place to take pictures and see wildlife. Needs more parking for visitors though.
Lived in Kodiak as young person and returned to visit. Had to go see Fort Abercrombie again. The view from the old WW II gun emplacements is fantastic! The path through the woods to the small woodland lake which leads down to the beach is delightful! So great it is memorable.
Nice park to visit and see history of Kodiak related to WWII. There are remnants of the cannons and a museum that is contained in an old bunker. Trails are available and a ranger station to get infromation.
