We chose this tour because it is close to town and isn't very long. There is an interesting and short video about the history of the village, about 20 minutes of native dancing, 12 or so totem poles to see and even a quick tour of the workshop where totem poles are still being made. This was a better choice... 更多
Tuesday August 11, 2015 - Ketchikan ,AK - Took Wildlife City & Saxman Totem Tours. Robert our guide and driver was a very knowledgeable. On our first stop as we exited the bus he pointed out an eagle above us, with good advise not to linger under the Eagle or look up until you were safely away. He took us... 更多
A Great Look at the History of The Saxman Clan.A lot of History on the makings and Meanings of Totem Poles. Our bus driver had a lot of knowledge of the local area and its People.
I'm fascinated by totem poles, so I thought this was a wonderful place. I went as part of a cruise line tour, and I thought it was a worthwhile excursion. The tour started with a video presentation about the Tlingit people, watched native ceremonial dances, watched a master carver carving a totem pole, and got to see a wonderful collection... 更多
Although this is not a Refined and Professional Tour - it was real and very charming. Our bus driver lived in the area and his family were involved in the Clan House Cape Dance. Everything we saw was demonstrated and described by Native Americans that lived in the area. Therefore it felt very real. It was a pleasure being with... 更多
A wonderful attraction that allows the visitors to understand a bit about the rich Native American cultures of the Northwest Coast - Tlingit in this case. While the carver and dancers, plus a good gift shop, might appear a tad touristy - the totem poles, clan house, and warm welcomes from the presenters all make it all very worthwhile. It... 更多
After taking the bus ride out there we were met on the road and asked for $5 admission but important details were left out. We essentially paid this money to walk around a few totem poles as the only available exhibits were only accessible for private tours. Not mentioned at all by the admission guy. After 10 minutes we got... 更多
My wife would like to have visited all day. She taught kindergarten for 30+ years and she read books about totems. I was educated by her on this and the tour guide was almost as good on the history and reason for totems. It was a little crowded but what great attraction is not!
The Native performance was very warm and charming. The group even included some small children who were too cute for words! After the performance we had a guiuded tour of the totems. The explanations of, and stories about the totems were wonderful and made such a difference to our visit. I reccommend taking a guided tour to understand more about... 更多
