I understand that this village is a starting point for a variety of activities, nearby like the ZipLine or excursions farther afield. We decided just to enjoy the pristine views and the perfect weather. First we went through the decently done cannery museum and browsed the shops (fine for those who shop). There were several places to eat, but since... 更多
Visited after taking a tour with Hoonah Adventure Tours. Got to visit with some local people and saw a wonderful totem pole carver. He answered lots of questions and was extremely talented. Make sure you visit his shop when in Hoonah. Also saw a huge eagles nest and lots of eagles. Walking paths and shops at Icy Strait were very... 更多
Lovely little place for cruise ships to tender. Stopped here last week and had a wonderful day, perfect weather. Picked up Hoonah Travel adventures tour for whale watching and had a fabulous day
On our Alaska cruise we decided to try the ATV and Zip Line combo excursion when stropped over at Icy Strait Point. After getting on shore, we wandered around a bit while waiting for the tour to start... seeing the historic canning equipment on display and doing a little shopping. Riding the ATV's was okay... got some interesting history and... 更多
We were anxious to visit Hoonah after seeing it on an episode of Alaska Bush People. It's a tiny little town with two restaurants in town. Walk downtown to see the eagle's nest or take the shuttle. The Hoonah Packing Company is a very interesting combination of museum and shops.
So traquile of a place, small island 40 miles from Juneau, small fishing village, but offers many things to do, such as the World's highest ziprider (highly recommend), whale watching, bald eagles perched in the trees. Definitely check it out as one of your cruiseship stops.
The whale watch thru Hoonah was amazing and the town itself was a fun time. If you like zip lining, this is the place to do it at.
