We walked in the snow out to the glacier approx. 2 miles and was well worth the hike! Beautiful!!! Only God can create this beauty for our enjoyment!!! Will go again in summer to see it!
Beautiful drive out to glacier, but it has receded to the point that you can no longer get out to the glacier. You can see Byron Glacier, but can not walk out to it.

This is an easy trip from Anchorage and worth the time and effort. The road along the way has many spectacular sites and the glacier was incredible. Am counting down until we can visit again.
This is a great attraction! Spend some time admiring the mountains , the glacier , and the awesome work of the glacier. To me a visit to portage glacier was stepping out of a rather hectic present, and a welcomed visit to a peaceful and serene past. Don't miss this one!
