The drive through the Park is truly beautiful but my biggest complaint is that it needs widening since it can be a long drive if you get behind a truck or a vehicle breaks down on the road. This park was set aside by the president it is named for. Even though the main highway from the Pacific to the Atlantic passes through it, development along the road has not been permitted and on the drive you are plunged into the most primeval rain forest.
I have only ever passed through this park on the way to do whitewater rafting with Ríos Tropicales on El Pacuare, but it is breathtaking each and every time.
I only visited the Parque Braulio Carrillo by the side of the Barba Volcano. The road it is not that good but it has very nice trekking trails. It worth to visit it.
The aerial tram was so peaceful! We only saw an eyelash viper, but I would still recommend it!! There was a tour afterwards through butterfly garden and snake and frog exhibits that I could have done without. The park is beautiful and the sights along the beaches are amazing. You can spot some animals if you are lucky, but not as many as I have expected. The entrance to the park is complicated and ineffective. You have first buy the tickets in a building which is not near the gate and than stand in line in front... 更多
We totally missed the entrance to the park. There was no roadsign. Because the road goes uphill trucks go very slow. There are 3 lanes, but strangly enough always 2 lanes are going down and 1 up.
