I don't understand people who give negative reviews for a jungle station, who seem to be expecting Michelin stars. It is basic, but way better than trying to camp out in the actual jungle. You have a raised, covered area where everyone puts their tents. There are showers and toilets, which are private, but outside, so again, be prepared. The... 更多
Ok, so (in fairness), this ranger station is in the middle of the jungle. Literally, the middle of the jungle. And if you are used to camping, it’s probably not so bad. Also, they are working on improving it – they are in the middle of adding a new kitchen and ( I believe) are going to re-do the camping... 更多
Having walked a trail to Sirena that offers so much opportunity to see wildlife and to experience the tropical rainforest at its most beautiful it is regrettable that upon arrival at Sirena Ranger Station you are confronted with the most appalling facilities. The food is expensive and disgusting. Apparently there are two cooks who are rostered on and off. One... 更多
My husband and I have hiked in the Sirena area of Corcovado four times, and have had wonderful wildlife sightings each time. All of our excursions have been through our lodges in Drake Bay (La Paloma and Copa de Arbol) and have consisted of day trips, leaving around 6:00 or 6:30 am on the 90ish-minute boat ride. We have not... 更多
I'm not sure how you rate a ranger station! We popped in to have our picnic lunch during our hike around the NP. Clean loos. Spacious verandas and lots of wildlife around. Lots of macaws in the trees, iguana and Jesus Christ lizards. Look out for the tiny hermit crabs
Nowhere else in Costa Rica did we see as much wildlife as here. The only drawback is that you are not meant to head out at night. In terms of accommodation / food, the ranger station is very basic, but functional and provides the essentials (including generous meals at the end of the day). Loved it!
We arrived at la Siena after a long journey. We were greeted by a super friendly head of station, Hector. We put up our tent and had some dinner prepared in the stations kitchen. The place could have a more clean facilities but it's understandable that in the middle of the forest and receiving so may people it's hard to... 更多
I agree with an earlier reviewer, Justyna. It is wonderful to use this as a hiking base and be able to wake with the howler monkeys and be out the door and on a path by 5 am. We brought our own food and I really enjoyed cooking amongst other guests and guides. We met so many people that we... 更多
This place is interesting in that it has a small exhibit showing some bones/skeletons of local animals and some history of the area. It was a nice place to hang out for lunch after a vigorous hike and, in fact, much of the wildlife we observed, we observed here in the trees around the station.
