With family in Selma for a graduation and decided to check out some of the sites. All were excited to view and cross the Pettus bridge, Also spent some time at the park that leads under the bridge. A great day!
I have read reviews of this "attraction" that call it just a bridge. It is not. You must approach this bridge with a degree of historical intelligence. Understand the importance of the bridge. Understand what happened here. Understand the historical significance of what happened here. Take a look around at the current conditions of this place. Imagine!
Walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma was the highlight of my visit. I walked back and forth several times. The feeling is very powerful just knowing that history was made here!
Selma is definitely a town that could use a boost. We were coming in from Montgomery and we stopped at the Lowndes Interpretive Center on the way, which provided extensive background information, as well as the center at the foot of the bridge. Walking the bridge takes you to the actual spot where history... 更多

It just seemed like one of those things that needed to be done, since there has never been an end to the need for solidarity. We were not the only people walking on that historic bridge, and... 更多
To have the opportunity to walk across this bridge was a time to reflect on the history that came along with this walk. Lives were lost for the freedom of all.
