As others have said, the initial 'tour' is informative. I was amazed at how strong and long a single silk thread is. Unfortunately for us the showroom was very, very crowded and noisy. There were many other tour groups there from Argentina and I think France as well as our three bus loads from Australia. We could have taken longer... 更多

This is not a factory. This is a store. The visit has three parts: 1) a really solid, useful explanation of how silk is made -- something I loved learning about back in 5th grade. In fact, I actually still have the cocoon from that grammar school lesson and was given another one during the tour. 2) sales floor with... 更多

The tour started with interesting and hands on demonstration about how silk is made, and how they make various products - all very interesting. Once you understand that this is leading up to a sales pitch to get you to buy, and the most powerful words are no, your right. Having said that the prices on the silk quilts and... 更多

I asked tour guide to take me to silk place and we went here. Fascinating to learn about how silk evolved and to see the threads pulled from cocoon. No pressure to buy and did buy comforter and pillows. Just opened them and it was nice. Price seemed reasonable based upon US prices.

I had read about silk production but had never actually seen it "in action" and wondered how someone 4 or 5000 years ago figured out how to do it. The demonstration part of the factory tour takes you through the process from the moth to the cocoon then into the manufacture of silk. The single cocoons are unraveled and several... 更多

We came here as part of our tour itinerary with Sinorama Holidays. As previously reported by other reviewers, the first 30 minutes was interesting – the stages of the silk worm, how the silk is gathered / harvested, spinning & manufacturing process, how duvets are made and the advantages of silk over other materials (sales pitch), etc. After the 30... 更多

I did hours of searching through the tripadvisor forums so I decided to "be smart" and get my silk comforter at Walmart or Carrefour's where the locals shop instead of here, where my Sinorama tour took us. My sisters both bought comforters for 880 yuan (2.25 kg total weight), the lightest weight king 220x240cm, which is about $135. I was... 更多

The visit starts with a demonstration of the cultivation of silk worms through the silk production process to the manufacture of finished goods. Following this there is an opportunity (surprise!) to buy bedding and clothing. Quilt prices range from 380Rnb for a single to 1080Rnb for a superking. From what we can tell the products are of good quality, and... 更多

I must say that the presentation that started this excursion on our tour was actually very interesting. We were shown and had explained how they manufacture silk at all stages, and it was very informative and interesting, but then, as with so many places we visited, the sales pitch came. We were taken out into the sales area where you... 更多

We were taken here as part of our conference. The information on the silk processing was very interesting. We bought two silk pillows and on returning home found some material that looked like Dacron on the outside of one of the pillows when we opened the packaging. We undid the stitching on one of the pillows and there is no... 更多

在古北 / 虹桥 / 闵行的住宿

周围地区详细资料
古北 / 虹桥 / 闵行
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
