For anyone who wants to live in the city center, Twickenham is the place to be. Walk to everything you need within blocks. Quaint but with all modern conveniences. Shopping, restaurants, Publix. One block from the best Hospital, 3 blocks from banks. I don't live there but wish I did. I go often to shop or enjoy the varied dining... 更多
So much history. Not just Alabama either. It is a large, very old and beautiful cemetery. The main point for land surveys in Alabama is located in this cemetery.
Met with group for regular Sat evening tour of down town Huntsville ( I think there are 3 different ones ) several stops along way to view and told of history area including ghost ( nothing scary ) . Beautiful homes most pre dating the Civil War . Will return to take the other walks

We downloaded an app to our phones from the Huntsville Convention Bureau and borrowed some bikes from the hotel and took off to see the town. We had a step-on guide and did a tour of the Twickenham Historical District. I have been to Huntsville many times, but never seen all that is in this area of Huntsville. I loved it and the group really liked the homes.
Worth driving through this area. Some of the prettiest neighborhoods I have seen. We went through with a guide, Jackie Reeves of Avalon Tours. Her knowledge of the area made it even more enjoyable.
Every December there is a home tour with houses on display. You can tour the inside and outside to learn about the history. This is the historical district. The architecture is amazing. The tickets are reasonable.

The streets were lined with candles inside paper bags and it presented a beautiful display of the neighborhood, juxtaposed with all the Christmas lights and decorations at the individual homes. Earlier that week, several of the older antebellum homes were open to the public for tours. All the... 更多
We attended the Twickenham Christmas Luminary and Home Tour recently. The area is impressive with the large, grand, old homes that have amazing architectural details. The area was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed walking the streets and looking at the homes and the lights. We started at First United Methodist Church which had a very nice open house, complete... 更多
