Go out and walk the trails, view ducks and cranes from the observation house, experience outdoors and wilderness steps from downtown! Huge asset and hidden gem. Great fun for all ages and interests.
This is a great place. There's a bit too much commercial activity nearby for it to be a true refuge for wildlife - and it's off a highway - so it's more of an animal duck and cover spot. We stopped here for a picnic lunch off I-65 with our 4 young kids (9, 7, 7, and 5). They loved seeing all of the animals, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A great place to stretch the legs and do something fun in the middle of a long road trip.
With all of the deadlines, limitation and expectations this life can demand, it's nice to have this peaceful place to escape to and just breathe! What a treat inside this sweet city!
I love the proximity and the calmness of the vast area.. The trails are nice and wide but a bit winding and there is a lovely bench to sit on over the water to enjoy the breeze and view

Another trail is across the hwy... 更多
We were looking forward to visiting this wildlife refuge, however it's closed on Sundays and Mondays, so we missed out. We did go to the day use area and took a walk though the forest, which was nice but a bit noisy with the busy road close by.
We like ot take the children here in the winter to see tha variety of birds that bed here for the winter. It is always educational and fun to watch the birds.
