We walked on and rode to the other island. We just stayed on the ferry and rode back. We saw dolphins and a lot of birds. We were fairly close to the natural gas rigs in the bay. Very interesting. The staff was very friendly. Loved riding the ferry.
Clean decks & observation areas. Professional staff, And, in our limited experience (3 crossings), they seem to run right on time. It cuts off lots of miles if you're interested in reaching the southernmost shores of the west coast of Mobile Bay. It is probably the closest I'll ever be to an offshore oil rig, too! Our first crossing a... 更多
We took the ferry from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island. A few points, be ready for the ferry 30-15 minutes ahead, there is a nice restroom available while you wait. There is limited space. Well organized & efficient. Our trip was choppy & windy due to weather. But if you get sea sick I recommend you don't sit in the... 更多
The cost was $30 one way and $13 back if you showed your first receipt. The boat was nice, crew was pleasant. Loved walking up to the second level during the ride. Man at the ticket booth on dauphin island was very friendly. The young girl in the ticket booth at fort morgan was very grumpy both days we talked... 更多
You have to do the ferry at least once. The ferry pulls up fish so it brings the dolphins close! seeing the pelicans is a plus also!
Not only does the ferry between Dauphin Island and Fort Morgan connect two of my favorite places, it is also fun. Leave the driving on harried Highway 59 to someone else, and let the ferry get you there. They don't run on days when the weather could make crossing dangerous, so enjoy the trip.
I always take my family on the Ferry when they visit, and on a rare occasion we will take it for a change of scenery. It is quite pricey in my opinion though. (~$20/25 per car, if I recall correctly). But great for visitors and on a warm sunny day.
We just made it to the ferry before the ramp went up.its a drive on,drive off type. You can get out of your vehicle while crossing the bay. They collect the fare when you are crossing,I used a credit card.crossing was smooth,I can't believe all the drilling rigs out in the bay.
