On two of our previous visits to Darj we'd intended to track down the botanical gardens and not been able to work out how to get there. This time we asked a taxi driver and he dropped us at the lower market from where we asked everybody that we saw how to get there. The route we took was smelly... 更多
We visited during monsoon in August and were very disappointed. Maybe it was the time of year but there was nothing of significance to see. There were a lot of trees with labels but we saw no flowers in bloom and the orchid house was just a sea of green. The place is more like a park rather than a... 更多
We were only there on a Sunday. and many glass houses are closed. But an interesting park. Well laid out and still enough of interest to see. Special interest to the large family Lloyd!!
A vast range of flora and fauna of the Himalayan region. I have visited this place every time I have been to Darjeeling. For those with knee problems it can be a bit stiff.
Botanical Garden of Darjeeling does not actually feature in the list of "must see" for the tourists who come to this hill station. For a small entry fee you can enter this garden. Be prepared to walk a lot. Depending on the time of the year you will get to see different flowering and non flowering plants in their splendor. This garden hosts both endemic and exotic species.
To offer context, I live in Cape Town, and thus have the world class Kirstenbosch Gardens on my doorstep. Lloyd Botanical Garden no doubt offers a pleasant area in which to stroll or sit down and read a book. I get the sense it's unfortunately past it's prime - along with most of Darjeeling. Probably better to call it a... 更多
We wanted to make a tour on our own without much discourse. The Lloyd Botanical Garden is quite big and full of families, couples and youth. We meandered the paths and found the conservatory... Inside was a Wisteria vine that is over 100 years old... amazing.... The orchid building was a little repetitious as it has mostly the same three... 更多
