My husband, parents, and two young children, aged 8 and 3, visited Sloss Furnaces on a Saturday afternoon. This is quite possibly one of the coolest places I have ever been for so many reasons. (1) It's free. (2) It's self-guided which is always a plus. (3) It's hauntingly beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. *Note*... 更多
This place is full of photo ops and rich with history. I agree with other reviews about the movie, it is dated but well worth the time. The staff is friendly and helpful. My family and I spent at least 4 hours there. I could have easily spent the entire day there with looking through my lens for the next area... 更多
I was so disappointed I didn't get here the first business trip but very excited to get here the 2nd time I came to town. WELL WORTH IT. If you are into History, photo ops and just industrial settings. I was here a few days before Halloween and was one of the only people early in the morning so I... 更多
A glimpse of the bygone era. What impressed us most is that they were holding a Christmas party for their retirees during our visit. The plant closed down in 1970!!! Glad that they are still showing their appreciation to the workers who made the Magic City great! The second surprise is that there are many metal arts displayed throughout the... 更多
What a wonderful level of access to a historic industrial landmark. The introductory movies is dated, but that gives you a sense how long it's been since this amazing facility was in use. We went on a cold rainy day, and was given free reign to move about under and in all aspects. For someone who has been to a... 更多

There is a fairly sized car park and a visitor's center with a gift shop, a few displays and a theaterette that shows a short film on the history of the Sloss Furnaces, Birmingham and steel making. I would highly... 更多
Do not be put off by the idea of visiting an industrial site.... it is amazing! You will be clicking away as the place is inspirational, esthetically pleasing, and the learning opportunity about the work of a steel producing plant quite rewarding. Glad we squeezed it into the schedule - wow!
Never realized what a big impact the steel industry had on Birmingham. Also what a big impact it's leaving had. It's a national historic landmark and is well done. Staff was friendly. A nice movie, too. Worth a visit. Takes about 1-1/12 hour or longer for f you want.
I have been before but this time I took one of my teenage daughters and her friend. The new welcome center starts the tour with a video of the history of Birmingham and the furnaces The free, self guided tour allows you to travel at your own pace. This is a work in progress so be prepared to keep an... 更多
