And baseball fans! Another one of Birmingham's "hidden gems"! Rickwood is a fascinating place to take tourists who are interested in the early days of the sport of baseball. It feels like you are truly stepping back in time!
My husband loves baseball...so whenever we are near a baseball field he hasn't seen, we go. We've been to Birmingham but never stopped at Rickwood Field. We went last week & had a great visit. With over 100 Baseball Hall of Famers having played there it has many old pics, & other things to see. It is a must for... 更多
If you are a baseball fan, Rickwood Field is a must see! The oldest existing baseball stadium in America has seen the likes of Cool Papa Bell, Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, and Ted Williams. It has also been the setting for several movies, including 42. The 1920's feel of the stadium is like stepping back in time to the golden... 更多
I have visited this park so many times since I have been alive I am not sure if I want to tell my age. It has changed a lot over the years but it is still the same in many ways.
I was not able to go onto the grounds as there was not an event taking place. I walked around and had a great look at the place. It is so real and so old time baseball that it almost felt like a movie set. If you are a baseball fan and in the area make sure you treat yourself... 更多
Rickwood Classic was in played on June 1, 2016. The Birmingham Barons play at Rickwood Field yearly for the annual Rickwood Classic, where they play in the "old school" uniforms and everything. It was a step back in time, and Rickwood Field has been preserved marvelously. The turnout was fantastic. I look forward to the Rickwood Classic again next year!
How it used to be is how it is at the Rickwood. I rolled up on a Saturday expecting just to view the exterior and hopefully catch a glimpse inside but when I arrived a fine gentleman had opened the park for a private tour and agreed to sit around for a few minutes while I darted around like a... 更多
I brought my wife here after she had her kidney transplant while we were staying in Birmingham and everybody was so nice and helpful to us. From the staff and allowing us to bring her transplant meds in with us no hard time at all they directed us to the best seating for her and there are ramps for walking... 更多
Saw the park on an Alabama map and checked TripAdvisor. After spending 6 months without a campfire and the great comments we were not disappointed. The couple here are wonderful. Didn't have time to venture to the caverns but we will be back. The smell of a campfire is fantastic!
