I used to take my sons when they were young along with our Lab, Gus. We climb to the top and have a picnic. Now, I've taken my grandsons. We love it and you will too.
Love coming here. You can do trails from a 1/4 mile up to 5 miles. The trails are well-maintained, not a lot of over-growth. Its definitely worth a visit if you are a hiker.
Ruffner Mountain is a treasure. It is relatively easy to find, centrally located, and there is no admission cost. You can stop in for a quick hike before shopping in the area, or spend the entire day wandering through the varyingly difficult trails. There are shorter trails for those who don't want to really exert themselves, and long winding trails... 更多
We went to Ruffner Mountain Nature Center to do a little bird watching. They have a big covered deck that is about 15 feet up so you can bird from there and you feel like you are in the trees. Birding from the parking areas and the deck by the offices is very good as it gives you good looks... 更多

Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve is literally on the edge of the City of Birmingham but feels miles away from the city. They offer guided hikes and often have special events scheduled throughout the year. Check some of the local papers for those events. Or Call the center for more information.
I have only been here once, but it is nice! It is cute, and I highly recommend. There are some great lookouts over the quarry. There are some pretty cool trails very close to the edge at the top of the lookouts! At the time there was a wedding going on, so other people love this place too!
