The museum is something every American should see in order to understand this dreadful part of our racist history. It cannot be denied and must be faced and understood and used to fight what is still part of our national scene. The bravery of the black and white people who faced and fought for what they knew was just for... 更多
If you come to Birmingham, you can't skip the Civil Rights District/Museum. Allow yourself enough time to browse through the eye opening museum.
This area is fascinating. The park across the street from the 16th st church is very well done. Commemorates the struggle of the children and the people of Birmingham and what they had to go to, to obtain their freedom. My husband and I spent an afternoon downtown learning a great deal about the civil rights movement from the Civil Rights Institute, to the 16th Street Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park...well worth our time. We stopped in Birmingham during a long road trip for only a couple hours to visit the Civil Rights Museum, and really enjoyed the Civil Rights area with so many iconic places. the civil rights district was laid out very well to show you all the important markers that happened in history and some of the key historical points, the only problem was I was the only walking to notice the markers so didnt feel all that safe -- there was no one else walking around the area
The Civil Rights Institute located here is one of the very best museums dealing with the Civil Rights movement. Beautiful park with statues depicting the violence which occurred here in the 1960s. Also the 16th Street Baptist Church is across the street from the Institute. Well worth the visit.
