It is very similar to shwedagon pagoda, so you don't need to go inside if you have seen that one. It's part of the 10000kyat ticket for Bago.
The Shwemawdaw pagoda might not be as spectacular on the whole, as the Shwedagon pagoda in Yangon but it is a few meters higher and takes the prize as the highest in the country. It was badly damaged by the earthquake in 1975 and the top fell off the stupa. The top is still visible in one corner of the... 更多
When you come to Bago, this place is worth - visiting, however the architecture of this pagoda seems similar to Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, and you shouldn't come here after lunch because it is really hot.
there is hardly a place in Bago, from where you will not see this Pagoda. Taller then the Yangon Shwedagon, this is really an impressive site - with a long hiistory, even if it is all done new after several destructions due to earthquakes.
Less impressive (of course!) as compared to Shwedogon but it is the biggest padoga in Bago. Less human crowd, more spacious & less array of smaller pagodas & buddhas surrounding the main padoga, makes the place looks cleaner & neater & quieter. Remember to pay your camera fees at the entrance! Not to miss visiting this pagoda.
Stunning in appearance, and simple in design, without all the commercial trappings found so often associated with pagodas in Yangon. This itself makes it an attraction worth seeing. Also has a building on the compound containing many archaeological artefacts, which regrettably are described only in Burmese.
Once you've toured Mandalay, Bagan and Yangon, it becomes difficult for any Pagoda of this size and frequentstion to leave a truly memorable experience, at least for the layman that I am. This one did not rise up to the challenge. Also deisappinting was the complete lack of any peaceful or quiet corners to sit, relax by watch. We visited... 更多
The tallest pagoda in Myanmar and i preferred Shwemawdaw instead of Shwedagon, eventhough it was less impressive. Your entrance fee allows you to access multiple attractions in Bago, so keep your tickets. The same applies for their "camera fee" which was at 300 kyat (keep your "camera receipt" too!). I found Shwemawdaw to be a bit more serene and rustic,... 更多
