The zoo is so sad; the animals are in tiny cement boxes with no shade from the heat. Having animals from snowy countries such as the Siberian tiger is cruel when there is no shade or protection from the sun.
They have dozens upon dozens of monkeys and primates but all of them are kept separate from each other, again...
- and it is not my favourite. Animals tucked together in cages. Well. But as we are in a zoo, it was clean nicely kept, fairly interesting and not too bad. The entrance fee is 6 reais. This is great as the zoo is crowded by Cariocas enjoying their week-end.
Nice place for see South American animals, nice place for rest. But not enough open fields for animals - for photographing and watching.
Price good - Only 6.00 Brazilian Reals
There are some food pavilions in the zoo - but you must think before buy something to eat there.
I think it's a good place for family visit!
